Join us for a conversation with sports commentators Tom Hammond and Mark Story, authors of Races, Games, and Olympic Dreams: A Sportscaster's Life.
Recognized as one of the leading network sports broadcasters in the U.S., Tom Hammond's achievements include college and NBA basketball games, college and NFL football games, thoroughbred horse racing and coverage of the Olympic Games. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, he served as a sales announcer at the Keeneland Thoroughbred Sales and at thoroughbred horse sales in 16 other states. He is recognized as a specialist and national expert on thoroughbred pedigrees. He was the first recipient of the annual Outstanding Kentuckian Award given by the A.B. Chandler Foundation, is a charter member of the Lafayette High School Hall of Fame and has been inducted into the University of Kentucky's Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame.
Mark Story has worked in the Lexington Herald-Leader sports department since August 1990, and has been a Herald-Leader sports columnist since 2001.
